Frequently asked questions

Real nutrition practitioners stay away from diet plans for one reason – they don’t work! Diets invariably fail because they need people to restrict themselves, like cutting back on carbs or eating minimal calories. This is not sustainable and may even lead to weight gain if not structured correctly.

Our strategies might take 12 to 18 months, but they are meant to be long-term. They’re about making realistic changes and understanding that life gets in the way. These might be simple swaps, like higher protein breakfasts, rather than dramatic cuts. If you have a treat every now and then, it’s not the end of the world!

I am a qualified nutritionist as trained by the Mac-Nutrition Uni. I am also a Level 3 personal trainer, weight management coach and sports nutrition coach. While I don’t combine exercise and nutrition plans, I can offer some tips alongside nutrition. Alternatively, you can ask me about personal training.

You might not want to lose weight with your diet. Perhaps you want to address vitamin deficiencies or improve your mental health. You might even want to gain weight – for example, building muscle for a tournament. We’ll discuss your requirements from medical conditions to sports training, then put together a personalised strategy.

You don’t need to do the finger prick blood test. We do offer this for those who want to look at health conditions, like diabetes. We’ll discuss your goals on your first consultation and you’re welcome to choose whether or not you’d like your blood tested.

All blood tests and checks are carried out with Stonegate Medical Group in York. You’ll have access to a range of blood checks with a fast turnaround. Among other things, your test could check for:

  • Vitamin D levels
  • Common health conditions like diabetes
  • Various other blood tests, including many not available on the NHS

Once tested, a Stone Medical GP will review your results for additional peace of mind. You can find out more here.

We cannot provide medical advice and you should always talk to a doctor before you make any dietary changes. Our advice is based on the latest evidence-based information. It can monitor wellness indicators like glucose or cholesterol, which will then help us make simple changes to your diet. Please note we don’t cover food intolerances.

If you have a specific weight loss goal, we can incorporate ‘weigh-ins’. These are completely optional and it’s important to remember that the numbers on the scale aren’t everything! Anything from water retention to menopause or perimenopause can make a difference. It’s all about making complementary food choices and ultimately feeling better.
